Big Milestones for both the boys!

Well since we have been home from NY..... We have gotten Kayden into big boy undies and he is doing great. And we are really only struggling with the pooping on the potty thing. Since he is still so young we think he is doing really well even with the few poo accidents!

AND... Chase is crawling. He is into everything and now Kayden is getting a taste of what it is really like to have a brother who is on the move! He loves to play on the floor and can even pull himself up on things so he can stand and enjoy the views. He is eating cereal and solid foods like a champ and loves to feed himself fruit puffs. At this point he has 2 teeth!!!! At his 6 month appointment.. which wasn't until we got home so he was more like 7 months at that point... he weighed 18lbs! He is growing up so fast and is such a good boy!

Luke is home now and has a few things lined up for work and I am enjoying my time home with the boys. I finished up at my old job half way through January. Although it was nice to have the extra income I love the fact that I am not constantly worried about things that I did't have much control over. Things have been busy as usual during January. While Luke was in NY, My mom and Ken stopped by for a couple of days on their way home from Florida. It was great to spend some more time with them and of course they spoiled the boys and I while they were here. Kayden is obsessed with the motorcycle they got him for christmas (It is actually called a SmartCycle but he loves to call it his motorcycle) Also our friends Holly and Rick stopped for a couple of days last weekend on their way to Florida. Their little girl Caitlyn is super cute and it was nice to spend some time with them all. Last weekend we had a baby shower for our friends Adam and Lauren who are expecting a little girl later this month. It was nice to get everyone together.. even if I did lose the beer chugging contest out of a baby bottle!

We have some more friends coming this weekend for 3 days. One of Luke's friends from Chicago and his wife are traveling around the country and decided to stop and see us. We haven't seen them in about 5 years so it will be really nice to catch up with them.

Since I am trying to make up for the last 2 months, I am sure i have forgotten some stuff and if so I will post again but for now that is a brief update of our lives the last few weeks.

New Year and still bad at blogging!

Happy New Year! I know.. I know... I thought I would be better this year with the blogging thing but not yet! We have had a lot of excitement since the last post in December.

We spent 3 weeks in Old Forge over the holidays. Luke started a job for my Aunt Lu Lu so we all decided to head North so we could all be together for Christmas. It was so nice to spend time with our family and enjoy some winter weather. Aunt Cookie and Uncle Korie were nice enough to let us crash with them. We got to go snowmobiling, sledding and we even got Kayden on some ski's a couple of times. He absolutely loved the snow and cried when we made him come inside. Our Christmas was great. We got to enjoy Christmas Eve with My Aunt Lu, Aunt Val, Uncle Bobby, Aunt Linda, and our cousins...Tammy, Brett and Brandon. This was really nice because we have rarely spent a holiday with them and we really got to enjoy our time with them. We spent the morning opening gifts from Santa at Kris and Korie's house and then we went to Grandma Deb and Grandpa's for dinner with Uncle Joel and Great Grandma Betty. After that we packed up the car and headed to another Grandma and Grandpa's house (Melinda and Paul). The day was a little hectic but we are so glad we got to spend time with so much family. Chase's favorite part was eating the wrapping paper!

After we spent a few days with Luke's mom we headed to Utica to see my roommate from college, Heidi and her family. We got to see their new house and of course their little boy Owen. We left there and stopped to see our friend Nick from high school, his fiance Ashlee and his new house. Needless to say by the time we got back to Aunt Cookies house we were exhausted.

We also were able to ring in the New Year with a bunch of our friends at a party Kris and Korie threw at their house. The boys spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa, which we really appreciated.. A LOT! It was one of the few times we have been up that late by our own choice!!!

We had a wonderful time in NY but it was time to come home. The boys were really good but we didn't want to impose on anyone anymore so we headed back South. Luke was home for about one day and then went back to NY for 2 weeks so he could finish up the job. My time home alone with the boys was good. I give single parents a lot of credit because it is not easy at all.

Welcome to our life

Luke and I have been together since we were teenagers. We have been through alot together and we enjoy each day we get to share with our wonderful family.

I will start at the beginning... (I will try to give the short version because 13 years could take a long time!) Luke and I went through school together and became best friends in middle school. We started dating when we were 15 and have been together ever since. Luke graduated from the School of the Art Institute at Chicago in 2002 and I graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2003. We moved to Raleigh that fall and started our lives together. Luke asked me to marry him in 2004 at Falling Waters (a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Pennsylvania.) We had an absolutely amazing wedding with our family and friends in Puerto Rico on July 15th, 2005. We also celebrated with more friends and family in Old Forge that August. Luke started his own construction company called AdironDecks Construction in September 2004. At that time I was a Membership Coordinator for the Regional Transportation Alliance/Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. I took a new job at JS Architecture as an office manager in May 2005.

We bought our first house in October 2005 and my mom also got married to a wonderful guy, Ken Wallis that same month. We started to do some updates on our new house as soon as we moved in and continue to come up with new projects all the time. We adopted our first dog, Jato in January 2006. He was the best dog but unfortunately he had some medical issues and was only with us until October 2007. He was so gentle with kids and we miss him everyday. In February 2007 we found out we were expecting our first child on October 22. Kayden Christopher was born right on his due date. We had an amazing pregnancy, fast labor and delivery and welcomed a beautiful healthy baby boy at 12:14pm. He weighed 7 lbs 13 ozs and was 20 inches long. He opened our world to this amazing place. We learned emotions and feelings that are indescribable until you become a parent. We were so excited to start our family of 3. We were lucky to have my mom and sister Kimmy in the delivery room to experience this overwhelming time in our lives. During our pregnancy we also lost Luke's grandmother, Ruth Fuller. She was a fantastic woman and we will cherish our memories with her forever. It is times like these that make you realize how amazing the cycle of life really is, as we created this tiny innocent human we lost a woman who lived a full and happy life.

Kayden's first year was great and went by way too fast. It was amazing for Luke and I to witness all the changes a baby makes in the first year. We have had good times, bad times and more amazing times that ever! Kayden spent time with his extended family and made a million wonderful memories! I have a great boss and he allows me to work on a flexible schedule and also from home. I have been lucky enough to spend everyday witnessing how Kayden changes and is constantly developing into this amazing little man. The month before Kayden celebrated his first birthday we learned that we were expecting our second baby on June 15th. We were so excited to add to our family. This pregnancy was a little different than the first with morning sickness throughout the entire 9 months. It was still a great experience for us as we are so lucky to be blessed with another successful pregnancy. During this pregnancy we lost another amazing person in our lives, my grandfather Larry Gaudin passed away in March. Another life created as one ends. Yet another lesson of why we should cherish and live each day like it is our last.

In June we welcomed another beautiful and healthy baby boy.

So this brings us to the last month......Chase David was born on June 12th at 2:08pm. He was 7 lbs 9 ozs and 21 inches long. Chase showed us that you absolutely love your second child as much as the first. It is hard to imagine having that much love for a person but it is true. He has made our family feel more complete and we are excited to see how he changes and develops. Right now he looks a lot like his big brother Kayden but continues to grow like crazy everyday. We were lucky to have my mom, Pinky with us again for this delivery. She was an amazing help to Luke and I for the 2 1/2 weeks she stayed with us. While she was here we were able to get Kayden's big boy room started. We were also blessed to have my sister Becky and our niece Mia fly in to surprise us the day after Chase was born. Becky was a huge help with Kayden and we were lucky to be able to spend Chase's first few days surrounded by our loving and very helpful family. Next Luke's mom Melinda and step dad, Paul arrived. They were also a huge help and we even ventured to the NC Aquarium when Chase was 2 weeks old. Kayden spent a little time on the beach that day and absolutely loved it. Next in was Luke's dad, Dave and step mom, Debbie. They too were a tremendous help with Kayden and we had a great time with them. We took the kids to Wrightsville Beach for the night and it was so fun to watch Kayden play in the sand and ocean. It was nice to relax on the beach for a day.

So today was our first day as just the 4 of us. We are so excited to watch our two boys grow up and become amazing young men. Being a mom has made me a much better person and I am so grateful to have such a terrific husband who is also my best friend and two healthy, full of life little boys! I will try my best to keep this updated as we continue to make amazing memories in my life full of Boys!
