Trip to NY

Well we packed up the car and headed to NY for a couple of weeks. Our first stop was the Langworthy family reunion. We had so much fun at Aunt Lori's house. There were plenty of events to participate in but I think Kayden's favorite was the greased pig chase!  We left there and went to Syracuse for the night because Luke was flying back to NC to work for the next week and a half. The boys and I headed to Old Forge where we spent time with our family! We were there for a day or so and then my other two sisters arrived with their kids. They had so much fun together and it is really neat to see them all interact with each other. Kayden came down with a really high fever and was not feeling great so we visited the doctor in town. He had said that it was just a virus and to just ride it out. Well for the next few days Kayden was definitely not himself. On Sunday morning he woke up and his finger was swollen and red. My cousin told me about this staff infection that her daughter got recently and that sent my mind spinning with what could possibly be wrong with my little normally very energetic boy! So we called the doctor and they said to put ice on it and bring him into the office tomorrow. That is what you get in a small town on a Sunday for healthcare! Well... that was the longest night ever. Kayden had a fever of 104 and broke out in a rash and was vomiting. I spent the night staring at him and making sure he was alright. We went back to the doctor Monday morning and had them drain some of the fluid out of his finger to give him some relief. He was such a trooper to let them pin him down and cut his finger. So we thought maybe he would start to get better but we had another long night. The next day we ventured back to the doctor again to have his finger drained again. It was worse than the day before so they finally did a culture on the infection and found out it was a staff infection. Sorry...Long story but eventually we got him on the right antibiotic and he is back to his old crazy wild self. He had a tough vacation but with the help of my mom, sisters and mother in law we made it through!
We spent most of our time trying to get better and resting but luckily we were able to spend some time with my side of the family at our annual golf outing and dinner. The kids danced to the dj and had a great time. It was nice to introduce Chase to all of his family. We were also lucky enough to finally meet our new nephew, Cole! He is adorable and we loved spending time with all of the cousins!
Luke surprised me and flew into NY a day early.... apparently my phone call to him crying was a sign that I needed some help!! haha.... It wa
s a wonderful surprise and we spent our last day visiting with all of our siblings. We then packed up the car and headed to our dear friend Dav
e's wedding in buffalo. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay with my cousins in Buffalo and they also watched the kids for us so we could enjoy ourselves at the wedding. We had an amazing time and the wedding was beautiful. Sunday we left and decided to stop at Niagara Falls on the way home. I was looking forward to getting home but since we were so close we thought it was a good idea.....Well the good ideas we used to have aren't as easy as they once were before we had two kids. Our 20 minute trip turned into a 2 1/2 hour excursion! It was great to see the falls but I was ready to go HOME!!! We got home around 1:30 am and we were absolutely exhausted. It has taken us a week or so to get back into whatever normal is but it was worth all the craziness to be able to spend time with our families and friends. We enjoyed seeing everyone and are grateful to have been able to create some more amazing memories. So besides Kayden's health issues we had a very successful trip to NY with a 5 week old and 21 month old! I know.... I know.... I must be insane!
