What a week

Well this was no dull week... Not that we have many weeks that are dull but this was full of events. The most exciting was that Kayden celebrated his 2nd birthday. We had so much fun at his birthday party at the pumpkin farm on Sunday. The kids had a blast playing, feeding animals, riding the trains and picking out their pumpkin. Kayden was exhausted after it was over and fell asleep almost before we got out of the parking lot. His actual birthday was Wednesday and we celebrated again with some friends. We also showed Kayden his big boy room that Luke and I had been working on over the last week or so. He loved it and was excited to go to sleep in his big boy bed for the first time. It took us about 2 hours of putting him back into his bed but he finally got it. The whole process took about 2 days for him to realize that we weren't going to stop putting him back to bed and now he lays right down and goes to sleep. He did awesome! I can't believe my first baby is already 2 years old. It is amazing how fast time goes by and how exciting it is to watch him turn into this little man. We are impressed everyday at what he learns and you never know what he is going to do.
Chase also got to move into his big boy room too. He has been sleeping in his crib and doing pretty good. He has been waking up about 2 times a night which is more than before but he'll get back on track. We think he is teething so maybe that has something to do with his sleeping patterns!
We have also had some changes in my office and I don't think I will have a job for much longer. I am just trying to figure out what to do next but Luke always tells me that things will work out. I think that is why Luke and I work so well together, he is the calming force while I am the one that worries about stuff. We will figure something out and as my husband says... it will all work out. Luke wants me to focus only on the boys for a little bit before I start going crazy trying to find a job so that is what I am going to do. As far as I know I will be working as a subcontractor until the end of the year but I am waiting to get a proposal from my boss today so we'll see what happens.
I also found out that I have post partum thyroiditis. It started after I had Kayden and then got better while I was pregnant with Chase. After Chase was born I
started choking again so after some blood work, an ultrasound and an appointment with an endocronologist that was the conclusion she came too. So hopefully after this medicine helps my thyroid create more of the hormone I am lacking I will be as good as new! Some of the symptoms of thyroditis are hair breaking and falling out, tiredness, weight gain. But for anyone who has had babies before all those things happen anyways so the choking is what caught my attention. Who isn't tired chasing a 2 year old and 4 month old?????
Overall there were way more great times this week than bad. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason so we will take it one days at a time.

The boys weigh in at....

Kayden and Chase both had their check ups yesterday. Kayden weighed in a 30 lbs and is growing bigger and stronger everyday. He was great the entire time until we had to leave and he didn't want to. Although I didn't think he deserved a sticker after the huge tantrum he threw the nurses apparently thought differently. Although I am sure they were just trying anything to get him to stop crying and leave! We are going to have him tested for allergies since he can't get ride of this running nose.
Chase weighed in a 15lbs. He is also in the 75% for his weight and height. He took his shots like a champ and was exhausted by the time we got home. He seems more sore and cranky today from all the shots and has had a fever of about 101. He is finally napping so hopefully when we wakes up he will be in a better mood.
Besides Kayden's fit in the doctor's office we had a successful and productive check up for both the boys.

Home Again Home Again

Well we made it back from yet another trip home to NY. We ended up leaving at 11:30 pm on Tuesday night. It was a crazy day full of work and more work and then we packed up the car and left for Old Forge. The boys were wonderful on both the long car rides. Chase slept the whole way until we got to Rome. After Rome Chase was done with being strapped down but overall the entire trip was a success.
My mom and Ken already had a trip to Florida planned so unfortunately we were not able to spend too much time with them since they left on Thursday. We were lucky to have Wednesday to spend with them so we all got together at Kris and Korie's house for dinner. Thursday was a nice relaxing day... which is unheard of for us when we visit home.... We took the boys to the lake front and let Kayden burn off some of that energy he was storing from the long trip. Then we had lunch at Slickers and then it was nap time! We meet up with Luke's dad and Deb, Kirk, Meagan and Cole and Kris and Korie for dinner at the Red Dog that evening. Friday morning we decided to take the boys up to McCauley Mountain. We had such a beautiful morning and it was nice to be able to hike down the mountain and get some great pictures. Friday night was the alumni soccer game. I am happy to report that there were no injuries.... A few sore muscles but that is to be expected since we are old now. Kris, Korie, Luke and I played in the game. It was pretty entertaining to say the least. Saturday was another beautiful day in the Adirondacks! Our nephew Cole was blessed at their boat house and it was such a nice ceremony. We finally got to meet Meagan's family and enjoyed spending time with everyone. At this point Kayden hasn't napped very well since we arrived and had barely eaten anything... so we headed back to Kris's house to lay Kayden down before heading to the 10 year class reunion. Kayden was so tired we decided to leave him there and let him sleep and Kris was going to bring him down when he woke up. So Luke, Chase and I headed to the soccer field to hang out with old friends. Needless to say we were there for 3 hours and Kayden never showed up. He was exhausted and when he woke up he ate like a champ. Luke and I brought the kids to Dave and Deb's house for the night so we could go to the TOW Bar for the second half of our reunion. It was so nice to see people that we had lost touch with. The evening was a lot of fun and the boys were great for Grandma and Grandpa. Sunday morning was Chase's turn to get baptized. He was the best baby ever. He never made a beep and stared at the priest the entire time we were there. Afterwards we had a little get together at the Langworthy's house. It was a nice chance to sit and talk to our family and friends. Who knew that in NY in Oct we could eat and socialize outside!!!! We then packed up the car to leave for Luke's moms house in Adams, NY. We stopped to see our friends Rick and Holly and their new baby Caitlyn. She is beautiful and we were glad that we were able to see them even if it was just for a few minutes.  We finally arrived at Melinda and Paul's house about 8pm. We spent Monday visiting with Grandma Betty, walking to Melinda's office, and napping. We also got a chance to go and see Luke's step grandfather. It was the first time we had been to his cottage on Lake Ontario in years. He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and was given 6 months to live. It was great to see him again and extremely sad at the same time. He is a special person and we pray for him everyday. After a great dinner and baths we packed up the car again and headed home. It was another great car ride for both the boys. Chase slept the whole time until 10 minutes from home and Kayden slept for a few hours and was perfect the rest of the time. We got home around 9am and were just so glad to be out of that car. We had a great time and it was wonderful to see so many people. We appreciate all the work that Dave and Deb did for Chase's party and we are so lucky to have such a fantastic group of friends and family. Now it is time to get ready for Kayden's birthday party!!!

Again... So it has been a while

It seems like this summer has been non stop. Chase has been a super trooper and has been more places than a lot of adults that I know in the last 4 months! We are getting ready to go to NY again.. Whoooo hooo... 10 Year class reunion. Who knew we were so old already! Thinking back over everything that has happened in the last 10 years is awesome and amazing! We are looking forward to seeing everyone. Luke and I are also going to attempt to play in the alumni soccer game. This should be interesting. The last time I played I ended up with a torn ACL and MCL. Sweet! I can't afford to be laid up for a few weeks!
This has been a crazy week. We are still trying to get over this allergy/sickness that the boys and I have had since our trip home in Sept. The boys have really runny noses and have thrown up flem a bunch... i know.. thanks for sharing! Just want to make sure I stress how fun the last few weeks have been...  Work for Luke has been busy, thank the lord!!! The parade of homes is this weekend so he was finishing up a few odd things. And he was building a table at home after dinner. My job has been busy too. We have hired a new office assistant and she is doing great. We have just been super busy with things. It is getting harder and harder to take Kayden into the office with me. I understand that it is not fair for him so hopefully this preschool will call and he will get 2 half days a week. I think he would love the interaction with the kids. I have been lucky enough to be able to work from home after the boys go to bed. I lost my voice while we were in NY and just got it back a few days ago.. it is still groggy here and there. But we are not whispering anymore. Although I did say that I didn't mind the whispering, I loved going to bed and thinking that I didn't yell at Kayden today!!!! Wow... 2 is a crazy age. I love him more than I can tell you but wow it is fun when they test their limits and try to figure out what they can and can't get away with. He is a really good boy most of the time. There are those small moments when you think... are you sure this is the sweet little boy saying mamum pezzzz???? Chase is wonderful. He is such a good natured little baby. He laughs and talks all the time. He is loving his jolly jumper now and exploring with his hands. It is really cool to watch Kayden talk to Chase and make him laugh. It makes me really excited that I get to be a part of this amazing experience of watching them grow up together.
I have been the person "in charge" of this class reunion so that was another small source of stress the last few weeks. And just because my husband was in the same class don't think that he was a huge help with anything! We are also having Chase's baptism on Sunday afternoon. Aunt Cookie (aka.. Aunt Kris) and Uncle Kirk are Chase's godparents. We are so excited that so many family members can come. We are looking forward to seeing everyone! It will be a fun weekend. Cole is also getting blessed up at their house in the league club on Saturday. I will be sure to post pictures... I know I keep saying that but maybe if I say it enough times I will force myself to learn how to do it! haha....
On another note... Our friends Karla and Jimmy Wilson had a baby girl yesterday, Oct 2. Margaret Joshephine is a healthy beautiful baby and Karla's epidural worked!!!!! YEAH!!!! Big sister Katie is already calling baby Maggie sweety.. so cute! We are looking forward to seeing them all. It seems like Chase was just that size and it amazes me how fast they grow up and change. Baby Maggie shares a birthday with our good friend Jesse Payne.
I am also planning Kayden's birthday party. Can you believe he is almost 2!!! We are going to be having his party at the Hill Ridge Farm in Youngsville NC. There will be a train ride and then hay ride to our party spot. The kids get to pick their own pumpkin and then play in the play area. It should be a lot of fun. Hopefully the weather is nice!!! Oct. 19th. If anyone wants to come please feel free!!!!
Well... I will post something else when we return home.. Hopefully we all come back healthy with our voices and no torn body parts after the soccer game. I will keep you posted!
